New LoTox™ Low Endotoxin Purified Allergens

Tired of dealing with endotoxin? Our LoTox™ purified allergen product line is specifically designed to meet the needs of researchers who need low endotoxin products e.g. in sensitive cell culture systems. LoTox™ allergens are highly purified and contain <0.03EU/µg protein. We have recently added three new allergens to the LoTox™ product line: nDer p 2, nFel d 1 and rFel d 1 (deglycosylated). Custom LoTox™ services are also available.

    Mite Serine Proteases

In response to interest in the enzymatic activity of mite allergens, we have developed a new research reagent: purified natural Serine Proteases from D. pteronyssinus (Code: NA-DPSP-2). The serine proteases are purified from mite culture by benzamidine affinity chromatography and are quantified for enzyme activity. This product may be useful for studies on airway inflammation, asthma, protease activated receptors (PARs), and mouse models of asthma.

Allergen Standards - Vial Replacement Program

Indoor Biotechnologies recently introduced a Universal Allergen Standard (UAS) that contains eight purified natural allergens from dust mite, cat, dog, rat, mouse and cockroach [UAS pdf]. The UAS is designed for use in both ELISA and MARIA™. From January 2008, the UAS is provided in ELISA and MARIA™ kits.

To assist customers in changing to the UAS, Indoor Biotechnologies has implemented a free vial replacement program. Under this program, vials of ELISA allergen standards in ELISA kits that were purchased after July 1, 2007 will be replaced free of charge with one vial of the UAS for each ELISA kit purchased.

To take advantage of this offer customers should provide: invoice or other documentation of ELISA kit purchase; number of ELISA kits purchased; ELISA kit product codes; and number of replacement vials being requested. US customers should contact: mail@inbio.com : other customers should contact our UK office at: info@indoorbiotech.co.uk.

    DUSTREAM™, Phthalates & Endotoxin
    Old Brewery building, Warminster

DUSTREAM™ collectors are essentially phthalate and endotoxin free. In response to customer enquiries, our plastics company has checked with the three manufacturers whose products are used in DUSTREAM™: DOW Chemical, Clariant Corp., and Basell Polyolefins. DOW and Clariant do not use phthalates in their manufacturing processes. The phthalate concentration of Basell resins is less than 25ppm: in contrast, plastics that require phthalate plasticizers contain up to 500,000ppm phthalates. Documents are on file to confirm these specifications. We also have data indicating that the surface endotoxin levels on the collectors are undetectable.

Based on these data, INDOOR Biotechnologies believes that DUSTREAM™ collectors can be reliably used for environmental sampling to determine exposures to phthalates and endotoxin.

    INBIO eNews January 2008

New product line for 2008! Indoor Biotechnologies is delighted to launch our Multiplex ARray for Indoor Allergens (MARIA™) kits and services - the next generation of ELISA for allergen exposure assessment.

MARIA™ combines Indoor Biotechnologies allergen-specific monoclonal antibodies with the power of Luminex xMAP® technology to measure eight allergens at once in a single test. MARIA™ provides improved assay performance (increased sensitivity, accuracy and precision) in a high throughput system with substantial time and cost savings.

We have also taken a bold step forward in standardization by formulating a Universal Allergen Standard for use in both MARIA™ and ELISA systems. This standard comprises eight purified allergens with protein content based on amino acid analysis, as per the European Union CREATE allergen standardization recommendations.

MARIA™ technology was developed in collaboration with Radix Biosolutions and Luminex Corporation, with support from a Small Business Innovation Research contract from the National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).

MARIA™ kits and services are available exclusively through Indoor Biotechnologies. This INBIO eNews is devoted entirely to MARIA™ technology (www.inbio.com/maria). We are also offering introductory pricing on custom 5-plex microsphere kits.

  • What is MARIA™ technology?

MARIA™ incorporates Indoor Biotechnologies monoclonal antibodies on the Luminex xMAP® system. The antibodies are covalently coupled to polystyrene beads containing different fluorescent dyes. Each bead set functions as a solid phase for a specific allergen, which binds to the bead and is detected using biotinylated antibody and streptavidin- phycoerythrin. The fluorescent intensity is measured in a Luminex Instrument and is directly proportional to allergen concentration.

    MARIA™ Services

Don't have access to Luminex xMAP® technology, a Luminex Instrument (or Bioplex)? Indoor Biotechnologies provides easy to use MARIA™ Service Options to analyze your environmental samples for allergens. Simply, collect a dust sample using our proprietary DUSTREAM™ collector, mail samples to Indoor Biotechnologies laboratory and our experienced analysts will provide complete 8-plex allergen array results within five days: easy, efficient and cost effective.
DUSTREAM™ + MARIA™ Service Options = IAQ Allergen Exposure Assessment.

Universal Allergen Standard for MARIA™ and ELISA

The standards currently used in ELISA kits are not suitable as standards in multiplex arrays. We have developed a single Universal Allergen Standard (UAS) that contains eight purified natural allergens and can be used for both ELISA and MARIA™
As of January 2008, Indoor Biotechnologies will be switching to the UAS in ELISA and MARIA™ kits. This change may influence allergen measurements in ongoing studies and diagnostic and allergen vaccine products.

    MARIA™ Opportunities

MARIA™ technology will greatly expand the scope of environmental allergen exposure assessment and provide a routine service capability for use in the allergy, indoor air quality and environmental testing fields. We would be pleased to discuss how MARIA™ can be incorporated into ongoing and planned research projects. We also welcome enquiries about the commercial applications of MARIA™ technology.
