2008 Travel Grants

INDOOR Biotechnologies will provide four $750 travel grants to enable graduate students, post-docs, allergy fellows or junior faculty to attend the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, March, 2008. The deadline for submission is 31st December 2007 and the application process is as follows:

·  Applicants should indicate why it is important for them to attend AAAAI in a one page cover letter. Please indicate whether you have applied for travel grants from any other sources. Applicants should also submit:

·  A brief (1-2 page) curriculum vitae

·  Abstract of the work they are proposing to submit or which has been accepted for presentation.

·  A supporting letter from the Head of Department confirming that attendance at the meeting is appropriate and authorized.

All of these items should be submitted in a single PDF file to Dr. Anna Pomés (apomes@inbio.com), to whom all enquiries should be addressed. The INDOOR Biotechnologies Travel Grant Program is competitive. We look forward to receiving your application!

2007 Travel Grants

We are delighted to announce the award of two travel grants for the AAAAI meeting in San Diego. Each awardee receives a $750 grant to cover expenses.

Patrizia Iacovacci, Research Scientist in the Department of Immunology, Istituto Superiore di Sanita, Department of Infectious, Parasitic and Immuno-mediated Diseases. "Differences in the presence of allergens among several types of indoor environments".


 

2004 Travel Grant Recipients

INDOOR Biotechnologies Inc. is pleased to announce that the company has awarded four travel grants to enable young scientists to attend scientific meetings in 2004. The company received numerous applications of high scientific quality. The four successful applicants were:

Apostolos Bossios, MD, who has recently completed a PhD thesis in the Allergy Department, 2nd Pediatric Clinic, Athens University, Greece, for the abstract entitled "Infection with human rhinovirus and exposure to Der p I synergize in ICAM-1 expression and IL-8 production by airway epithelial cells". This abstract will be presented at the EAACI 2004 Annual Congress in Amsterdam.

Lesley Lowe, BSc, who is studying for a PhD at North West Lung Research Centre, Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, for her abstract entitled "Prediction of wheeze phenotypes at 5 years of age by lung function measurement at age 3 years". This abstract will be presented at the EAACI 2004 Annual Congress in Amsterdam.

Amir M Ghaemmaghami, MD PhD, Division of Molecular & Clinical Immunology, Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, for his abstract entitled "The proteolytic activity of the major dust mite allergen Der p 1 conditions dendritic cells to produce less IL-12: allergen-induced Th2 bias determined at the dendritic cell level". This abstract will be presented at the 12th International Congress of Immunology in Montreal, Canada.

Matthew S. Perzanowski, PhD, Columbia's Children's Center for Environmental Health, Columbia University, New York, NY, for his abstract entitled "House dust endotoxin in New York City and its association with wheeze in a birth cohort to age 36 months". This abstract will be presented at the European Respiratory Society annual meeting in Glasgow.


AAAAI Travel Grant Recipients

INDOOR Biotechnologies Inc. previously awarded two travel grants to enable young scientists to attend the AAAAI meeting in San Francisco. The successful applicants were:

Eleanor Ling, BSc, a PhD candidate at the Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London, UK for her abstract entitled "Allergen immunotherapy increases suppressive activity by CD4+CD25-, IL-10 producing T cells, but does not affect suppression by CD4+CD25+ T cells". (JACI 2004;113:S109).

Serge A. Versteeg, BSc, a research associate at the Department of Immunopathology, Sanquin Research at CLB, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, for his abstract entitled "Chemically modified Fel d 1: a good alternative to hypoallergenic mutants". (JACI 2004;113:S137).
